Rail Tunnel Construction Site at Thomson Line

The Thomson Line (TSL) is a fully underground Rapid Transit System and is approximately 30km long. There will be 22 stations and the line will connect Woodlands in the north to the Central Business District (CBD) and the Marina Bay area in the south.

Contract T208 covers the construction and completion of Springleaf (SPL) Station, bored tunnels between SPL and Lentor (LTR) station and cut and cover tunnels at the north end of SPL station and at Tagore.

The bored tunnel operations in T208 utilises 3 slurry TBM (Tunnel Boring Machines ) to construct a total of 4 bored tunnels from Tagore cut and cover to the respective stations in Springleaf and Lentor. The construction area comprises of geology predominately in Bukit Timah formation of various weathering grades. Another 6 numbers of cross passages will also be constructed to link up the twin tunnels located between these stations and Tagore cut and cover.
